Protecting Biodiversity and Ecosystems

AEP Nusantara Plantations is committed to the conservation of High Conservation Value (HCV) and High Carbon Stock (HCS) areas across all our operations, ensuring sustainable palm oil production while protecting critical ecosystems.

Our Conservation Commitment

AEP subscribes to the High Carbon Stock Approach (HCSA) for all our new plantings. New planting areas are surveyed by certified assessors from the HCV Resource Network's Assessor Licensing Scheme (ALS) for identification of HCV and HCS areas.

Conservation Area Management

All of our estates have clearly delineated boundaries indicating HCV areas and areas of conservation interest. These areas are systematically identified, mapped, and protected to ensure their ecological integrity.

Regular Monitoring of Conservation Areas with Drones to Prevent Encroachment

We employ advanced technology including drone surveillance for regular monitoring of conservation areas. This helps prevent encroachment and ensures continuous protection of these critical ecosystems.

Clear Signage and Protection

On the ground, HCV areas are marked with clear signboards to prevent encroachment. This also provides clear guidance for management during daily operations.

Strict Wildlife Protection Policy

Hunting of any species of animals within all our areas is strictly prohibited, and any sightings must be reported immediately. This commitment extends to all our suppliers and forms part of our Terms of Contract (TOC) with them.

Riparian Buffer Zones

Areas along rivers and permanent waterways are conserved as riparian reserves. These protected zones reduce soil erosion, prevent water contamination, mitigate flooding, shelter wildlife, increase biodiversity, and provide corridors for riparian wildlife.

Water Quality Assurance

Regular sampling and analysis are conducted at rivers supplying water to our estates to ensure no contamination by hazardous materials, maintaining water quality for both ecosystems and communities.
